John M. Salmon IV, MD lives with his wife in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he has practiced clinical and anatomic pathology in one of the only independent pathology laboratories in the state since 2000. In addition to medical directorship of several hospital laboratories, he helped develop the multidisciplinary thoracic cancer program, and remains an integral member of that team. He has been the Physician Liaison to the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer for the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center since its inception. He has served as President of the Lynchburg Academy of Medicine, and was recently named President of the Board of Archetype Health, a developing clinically integrated networked intent on redesigning the delivery of healthcare in the region, and providing a model for the nation. His two teenage daughters not only routinely challenge that which he has always considered true, they provide the motivation for an ongoing struggle to improve.
